So did you do the whole route Chicco and how did it take you ?

Is the route on public roads ... one day will you take me ?

The route took Alfie and the skrik vir niks guys about 7 hours, I did it in 10, that includes fuel and lunch stops.

Most of the route is on public roads and tracks, the only part not is between the Mozambique border and Tembe Park, just sand between 2 electric fences, there is also a river bed...you like river sand dont you?

The 2 guys on the GSA's were built like bakkies botha, they were very strong, They handled the bikes like 690's
The guy on the 1150 was a victor matfield look alike, his name Boas....wont sukkel with him.....

To do this route more relaxed I would sleep over after 250km. It was a challange after all, to finish 500km in 12 hours.

1) Dallie
2) Brothers Ernie and Eddie
3) Raymond
4) Locals
5) Pieter with his custom GS, only frame, engine and wheels, all extra weight removed.....

Cool ...

I think I recognise Eddie on the Yammie ... did Country Trax course with him in June

That stripped 1200 sounds like an idea ... but too scared to try it ... what happens when the inevitable "sidestand incident" occurs

Waar oorgeslaap - kostes?

Klink intens - erger as RR?

dis net vir adventure bikes +600cc
dit was die tweede een, kyk onder search "pongola 500" vir die ander posts
Daar was net n stukkie teerpad terug, 53kms
Daar is beperkte plek, ek ding net 40 inskrywings word aanvaar.

So did you do the whole route Chicco and how did it take you ?

Is the route on public roads ... one day will you take me ?

The red route as seen on the map is not open to the public.  Dalie had to make special arangements with the local police for us to ride there.   It was 120km of the thickest sand ... and if you were the lucky sucker (me) you would have found that the previous 10 bikes left behind a perfect groove to fall in!   My Super Enduro does not have the steering dampner!  Just had to speed up a bit more ....

This year’s challenge was certainly something different.  As I quote Mr. Alfie:“ It is not often you see the Bikes and the Horses together”.  But it worked perfectly.  Top riders on both sides showed us what the bikes are capable of and even the most hardened KTM rider will have to admit that the 800s surprised in the sand.  Everybody was there as a team.  If you fell there were two or three riders helping you to get up again.  I think I have to mention Alfie again, helping with flat tyres, slipping clutches, brake pads etc etc.  (This coming weekend the big ride is at his place.)

On Sunday we decided to spend some time on Jozini.  The fish were biting and we must have caught 20 odd tigers.  Brandy was flowing and the swimming was refreshing.

We convinced Dalie to join us.  He even had a beer.  He says that next year the race is going to be a completely different route, almost no tar, more technical and much more scenic (that is if you have the time to look at anything but the piece of gravel in front of you).
