Hey Berty, looking good man, well done.
So 22L @ a conservative 22km/L = 400+km, you will only need a tank and half to get up to JHB to come and visit.

I still need to try it out fully loaded and with a full tank to see what the handeling is like, I think a suspension upgrade will be on the cards or at least a shock overhaul. Otherwise it goes like a Boeing (or should that be a Cesna?).

The seating position and wider tank feels similar to that of a XT660R but without the heavy front, it lofts at the blip of the throttle, very addictive. Damn shame the DRZ is not as much fun. Closest thing I have ridden to this was a WR426 but without the quality suspension of the Yamaha.
I dont know why the yanks is going on about the pumper carb, the CV, if well sorted, is bloody exellent and I think the split second of lag that it has in comparison to the pumper, only helps the bike to transfer wieght to the back wheel for loads of bite.

Hey Berty,
Kan jy n foto van vooraf post - ek wil sien hoe wyd lyk die 22l tenk.

With Jimbo's help removed and cleaned my carb for the first time since getting the bike.
Man it was scary, plenty of very fine sand and or rust coated the float bowl and had to be scraped out.
Checked all settings jets and diaphragms, put it back together and hey presto a few more horses ready to gallop.
Bike also doesn't struggle with cold start anymore  :thumleft:

Replaced fork oil a few weeks ago, very easy to do and made a world of difference to handling and ride quality.

I hope you guys are planning on doing some riding when you finally get your 350s all tanked up and cooled down.

I am planning the "VOLCANO HARDCORE DESERT RIDE" for the first or second week in September.  It will be from Johannesburg to Mount Brukkaros in Namibia and back.  About 3 600 km (round trip) on hardly any tar.  It looks like taking 6 days, but I will plan on 7 days.  This will be ideally suited to up and running DR350s.  So try to be farkled-up by then.  I will post more details under "Planning a Ride" in a week or so.

Hey Berty don't joke, I've ridden with Jim and it is hardcore, he doesn't cook anything, doesn't eat, only drinks whats in his camelback and rides - fast!!!
Oh and if you suggest eating it will be frowned upon  :mwink:
I found it best to admit being a whoosie and saying that my sugar levels were too low!!!

Oh and the rain also doesn't bother him, nor the cold - it's like being mates with a piece of sinewy biltong.
