When I Googled the DR 350's specs, the black model was indicated as the 2001 model. ???

I actually met the owner, without nothing knowing it was his bike.

I have been back twice to locate the owner, without luck, but did get the phone number, when asking around. :thumleft:

Will phone him asap! (tomorrow)  :thumleft:

I am not really bothered about the year model. :thumleft:

The kms and condition are worth killing for! >:D

The rider is an elderly gentleman, and met him where he was working on a vintage car. The bike was parked at another spot, and I never associated the old man with the DR! ???

I left a note between the seat and tank (visible on the photo), which was removed and put on a table next to the bike. When I was there the following day, the bike was parked at the vintage car, but no sign of the owner. No call from the the owner. I will definitaly have to do some convincing to get it :ricky:

Were these the last DR 350s available in SA?

I had a 2001 DRZ400 which was the follow up to the DR350, maybe it was made in 2000 but registered in 2001. Or a grey model registered in SA in 2001 ?

The DR350S was introduced in 1990

The DR350 (without S) Enduro followed in 1991. Plastic tank, different carb, better suspension, no flickers.
1992 saw the introduction of the SHC seat height control on the fly. As far as I know this was only available in 1992 and 1993 models (?)

In 1994 the DR350S was replaced by the electric start SE. The Enduro remained available unchanged.

The Enduro was finally discontinued at the end of the 1999 model year. The DRZ 400 replaced it in 2000

The SE seems to have been available until 2001.

Le Cap Motorcycle Hire did use DR350 (before my time) but they apparently weren't up to the task and the engines did not last anywhere near as well as the 650's.

Thanks DB9! :thumleft:

Would prefer an e-start model. ;)

Does this one have upside down forks? Which model had them?

The USD forks were fitted to one of the Japanese market DR250RS models in the mid to late 1990's. The DR250RS as far as I know was never sold outside of Japan (maybe NZ?) and few seem to have made it to SA as a second hand imports. The DR250RS has lots in common with the DRZ250 and the Djebel 250 (same engine & frame) but has nothing to do with the earlier single cam DR250.
