Learning to ride
« on: October 23, 2010, 06:15:58 pm »
I've always wanted to learn to ride a bike, this has been my dream for as long as I can remember.
In 2006, that dream came true.  My husband brought home my XR250.  He parked it in the lounge, I would have preferred to have my bike next to my bed, but hubby said no.

Now to learn to ride....
I started with safety boots, garden gloves and an old pair of jeans (riding gear)....

Time to start venturing further from the comfort zone....

Photo 1 is from the top, looking down towards the water is where photo 2 was taken.  Had sooo much fun.

Time for a little challenge...
I was a bit nervous to start off with, but Bruce had the confidence in me.  "Just keep up your speed"

My first "river/stream" crossing.  Bruce says 2nd gear, keep up your speed and don't use our tracks.... ok so here goes, I'm in 2nd gear, going not to fast, making my own track and my father-in-law stops.  He just stopped in front me, so I rear ended him ooops.

On the farm is this hill - very steep - so a new challenge.  Bruce says this is a perfect place to learn to ramp.  I'm so happy the front wheel lifts up a little that I end up in the bush...  :imaposer:

Well done.

My wife has been inspired by you.  She's been talking about learning to ride for ages but done nothing concrete.  The talking has started again so lets hope.  Thanks
