Sunday trip back home!
Trials are survivable. We must keep our eternal perspective through the tough times.

We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we don’t give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going.” (2 Cor. 4:8-9 NLT)

Thanks to all the Dogs that supported my stall at the BASH. I was busy the whole day Saturday fixing flats and fitting a few tires.
It was a real pleasure meeting and serving you guys.

For those broken panniers and lost luggage on the way back home I only have this to say;

Giant Loop

This was one of the funniest moments of the bash.  It was very late Saturday night / Sun morning, only about five of us still standing.

Next mo this WD decided to rip loose and started getting rid of his clothes in real stripper fashion.  He was still busy with some pole dancing moves when a local came walking over his dance floor.  The poor dude had been in some sort of fight as his t-shirt was torn in the front.  Next moment our stripper walked up to this guy, stopped him in his tracks and summarily ripped his t-shirt open from the front :eek7:  If that was not good enough he swung this guy, who was completely confused at that stage, around and ripped of his t-shirt at the back.  The guy, obviously pissed himself, just stood there for a while before walking without saying a word.

Can this dog please identify himself, I owe you a very tall drink for one of the funniest moments i've ever witnessed :imaposer:

The next morning when I showed him the guys shirt in the dustbin he didn't know what I was talking about :imaposer:

And his audience

Raka still tuning the jukebox before the bash went quiet for the last time

Groenie and Raka most probably pouring the last dop of the bash and therefore disqualified as the most pissed

Yes - gps search Seafood Terrace in Wierda Park, Centurion - right next to it.

Its my local butchery, and not brag - the have won butchery of the year in SA 3 times in the past 5 odd years.  Prices are fair (not cheap, mnot expensive) - the whole experience awesome.  Speak to Attie or Jose - tell em about the bike bash and Wilddogs.

NeilG and Thomtom safely back from the Bash, some 2000 km later!  Thanks to all the organisers for a great event.  I am sure all of us underestimate the effort that goes into organising an event like this.

Our route took us from Oranjeville to the Bash and on Saturday morning on to Victoria West via Deelfontein.  Then back via Middelburg (East Cape) and Marquard (Korannaberg).  It was my first long trip on the HP2 and I still like the bike and the HP2 likes the dirt.  I used the Giant Loop Coyote and Louis Fun Bag in combination, all worked very well.

From earlier comments, for the WD out there planning to attend, late night parties and “letting the dogs out “, is only a small (but integral) part of the event.  Getting there, spending time on route, meeting interesting fellow dogs, all makes it worth while and, yes you can go and sleep early.  After nearly 700 km on a Friday, I could sleep through an earth quake.  (Just make sure you pitch far away from the epicentre.)

Some pictures and some info on both Deelfontein and Korannaberg.

Deelfontein, a station between De Aar (46 south on railway line to Beafort West).
The Hotel Yeomanry, built after the Anglo-Boer War, stands near the railway station. Later other buildings were erected next to the hotel in the 1920s. These included a bottle store (opened in 1935) and a general store (opened in 1938). All these commercial enterprises have now ceased functioning. Read the story of the Yeomanry Hospital on the web.  Almost all the soldiers died from typhoid.  (Then called enteric fever).
http://samilitaryhistory.org/vol074sa.html
I also read that in 2005 the Shosholoza Meyl Trans Karoo express hit the stationary Blue Train at a crossing loop Deelfontein in South Africa in October 2005.
