Outeniqua - They who bear honey
« on: March 18, 2007, 09:02:10 pm »
The end of another great weekend, another ride report to be written. It started with a lunchtime beer at the Dros where SCP and I met Oppad who was on his way to the ?Buff?. Already there were bikes everywhere. Always nice to meet a fellow Wild Dog. All forum members seem to be great guys ? I am yet to be disappointed.

Saturday morning we got the bikes to the farm for a day of riding, watching rugby and a nice braai.

Choices choices. So many dirt roads around here.

We went past the neighbors

and just generally rode around.

We enjoyed the day and hatched a plan to go explore the mountains on Sunday. Saturday evening ended up in dinner with Oppad, KiLRoy and Lucky Striker. Thanks guys! It was great to meet you. You were invited to come ride with us on Sunday ? look closely at what you missed:

Sunday we set out ? direction Outeniqua mountain range.

Up the slippery dam wall.

Through the gate and into the mountains!

We rode higher and higher, armed with our permission permits. The views were spectacular.

Soon we were in the mountain forests. This area is simply breathtaking.

Every so often we?d cross a river. Nothing refreshes like mountain water!

Next time we?ll come and have a picnic.

Back on the bikes ? lots more to explore! I?ll let the pictures speak for themselves?

Uhmmm? OK.

And eventually back on the farm.

Down the same slippery dam wall.

Another day enjoyed by all.

And off into the sunset we rode?

Looks pretty damn close to paradise there - forests, fun and family (all on bikes).

Thanks for the report!!

TR do you have contacts with forestry or land owners down there ? When I lived down there bikes were certainly not allowed on in most places even with a quiet exhaust. I still want to know how some places allow 4 x 4's but no bikes ! Nice report as usual !

Hi Johan...
WOW, you guys are great! Another great report.... Just makes me want to close shop in CT and move to the garden route... Although with so many great DS rides I dought I would get much work done... You should send some pics to Honda, Mabe It could fund some beer money?

Thanks and see you soon... Will be up in your area for a wedding next Weekend, will give you a shout!! Braai for sure!
Cheers Macky!

Mods, please ban and lock such ride reports. Its not fair to us city slickers to allow it.
