Nice one Horsepower  :thumleft:
How many 'horses' were necessary to extract the Harley from the beach?  >:D

You'll never see Mile 108 that quiet during holidays.
Over December it's one mighty humm of generators.
Not a place you want to be.

Awesome thread, thanks guys!  :thumleft:

Mother, if I may, 007 and I are planning our first two-up trip with our wifes next year. We're planning a 10 day (or so) trip. Although we are not planning to follow any hectic routes, I am sure we'll encounter a few sandy patches. Should we do a riding course together to get the standing thing going or is this something we can teach ourselves on the fly? Sorry for the quasi-hijack but I am sure the question bears relevance on a Nam thread. Thanks.

From my experience the biggest problem for a pillion 'new' to a bad patch of road - particularly sand or corrugation - is the unfamiliarity with the movement of the bike under these conditions. As a rider you know (and expect) the back to move around but for the passenger this could be very disturbing and unexpected. Understandably this could lead to stress and fear which translates into an overall bad riding experience.

Even an introductory course could prove of great value as it will at least familiarize them with the proper technique of standing, holding on and weight distribution. However for this to have much real world benefits you'll need to put considerable practice into it.

But depending on the route you choose you might never need to get out of the seat anyway..

Thanks for the advice Messrs Big and Mother  :thumleft:

Will look into the course options (incl Hoofseun) and decide what would work best for the two of us.
