Snaaks dat n plaas naam dit in n landkaart in kan maak, maar dit wys jou, die FS het ook niks anders om op te sit nie.  :biggrin:

Maar ja, ek dink die plaas name word deur geskaaf soos hulle gebruik word!
Daar is heelparty plase wat op die kaarte verskyn. Sal bietjie 'n lysie maak van 'n paar in my geweste. ;)
Een plaas naam wat ek nogal baie gesien het is "Elandsfontein" en "Vaalbos".

There are two Michell's Passes afaik too.
Sometimes spelled as Mitchell's.

With respect to the de la Rey part of my ancestry, I think the Afrikaans folk were very unimaginative in naming places, and just ran out of unique names.

Two siZulu names I love:-

Babanango - "Father! Look over there!" - The call of a young boy when he saw his sibling who had been lost in the mist.

Ixopo - The sound the cattle's hooves made when they walk through the clay-rich soil of the area.

Edit: and another.

Shu Shu - The sound someone makes when they inadvertently walk into the hot springs ! -
