Service Interval DRZ
« on: March 21, 2007, 07:14:22 pm »
Can anybody tell me what the service interval in a DRZ400 / 450 would be? I'm considering something in that class but I don't want to be changing oil on a weekly basis. Also, how does it compare to the other 450cc bikes on the market i.t.o. service intervals. Thanks.

The DRZ has service intervals like any other dual purpose bike.
You'd be great changing oil every 5000km, but I'd do it 3000 to be sure.

Other 450's are competition bikes, changing oil every 10 hours etc. Air filter every ride.
Not the same but I change gearbox oil every 3 rides or so.

I change mine every 2000 km but the Suzuki manual says 5000 no problem. Down on power to the enduro mx 4 strokes but then those guys are constantly busy with adjusting valves and changing oil. Mine is a 2001 model with one re shim in 41 000 km.

Hey Sidetrack, what is the chain and sprocket life on the DRZ400? Mine is still brand new, so no idea? \Cheers, Gobby :ricky:

I have done about 5000kms on my current chain & sprockets and its still fine.

And some people on this site say that Im a little ham fisted...  ::)

Just keep it lubed and set to the correct tension and you should be fine for quite a while...
