My son's intermediate bike is a Suzuki DR200 that is in desperate need of a Kickstart shaft/gear ......... his old one was welded on  ???  if anyone's got any spares..... I'll gladly lay some green-backs on your palm!

Have you checked with the dealers? ???

My experience with Szuzuki is that there is no consistency regarding pricing. >:(

You might just be surprised with the new price for that part! ;)

There was a DR 200 for parts on Gumtree a while ago. Might have written the number down. I'll check for you. :thumleft:

I am currently out of town. If you are patient I'll check with a guy in Nelspruit who rebuild a few. Maybe he has engine spares.  :thumleft:

No stock of the Kickstart or the Shaft from Suzuki............ 6 weeks......... quoted R600 for the shaft & R750 for the kickstart........  sherbet - we only paid R2500 for the bike...  :eek7:

Spoke to the guy in Nelspruit.

He  says he should have the shaft, but not the kickstarter.

He is already closed for the festive season. Opening 7 January.

Mentioned a price of R 250-00. (Willie 083 707 2831)

You can also speak to Robere at Pitlane in Nelspruit. He use to have the Suzuki agency in Nelspruit, and still has plenty spares. 013-755 2127. (He sold quite a few DR 200s to the farmers!)

Peter, can the bike 'live' without the kickstarter?

Yes, perhaps a totally stupid question....

But reason I ask... if it is yes and you are super desperate for one, you can pull it off my Djebel.... I have NEVER managed to kickstart it with my short legs!

He's push-starting the little bike at the moment , which is no hassle... HOWEVER .... we want to take a few trips with the boys and the youngest will probably ride the DR200............. now the problem would be that if he falls/get stuck etc in soft sand... he's royally screwed - aint no way he's going to push-start it.....

Maybe I'm funny in that way... but I've always wanted a bike to be complete.... your offer is much appreciated but M - would never strip a working bike to fix a non-working one...?

Thanks so much!   :thumleft:

Re: DR200 - spares needed.... Carb Spring?
« Reply #13 on: January 10, 2013, 07:44:27 am »
The Idling Lever, Bolt and Spring somehow "removed" itself from the Carb and disappeared.

We managed to get the Lever & Bolt from Suzuki - however the Spring is now obsolete and although we managed to borrow a spring from Tim in Cape Town - I need to return it as soon as I manage to get a replacement.

Would appreciate it if anyone can perhaps point us in a direction where to look for such an evasive part..........  or perhaps anyone that has springs that could be modded?

The length of the spring is approx 12mm and the diameter (outer) 10mm
