Lets hear it fellow dog's : If you had a choice  ;D between a 1200GS or a Super ten what would you choose. Riding will be 40% dirt not too technical and 60% tar. I need to start looking at upgrading from my faithfull old pig  :ricky:

I'd say GS, but I'm biased. GS = no radiator to puncture...

but there is the oil cooler, but it's high up and out of the way

Between the normal GS and S10 I would take the S10, both tubeliss and good service from dealers. And mechanically sound.

The GS Adventure is in my opinion better than both for touring and offroading, big fuel tank and super standard extras.

My dad just had the same delema as he a a BIG Yamaha supporter, but have had good service from BMW so he took the ADV at the end due to the Fuel capacity and having extras from his normal GS that fit.

Get both ....

Positive's both ways. You would only get the S10 if you really dislike BMW's and the brand

A biased GS   ;)

Don't know Yamaha's service quality, but after experienes with other makes, I'll stick with BMW.

Definitely self justification, for sure!

Go and ride both, I think the S10 is quite cool and must be worth considering. New DOHC gs's have issues that need sorting... some bad vibes have been experienced and fixed but only after some rather persistent discussions! Did have the option to use one of three dealers however, check in your area what would be your choices i.t.o. servicing agents.
Must just say I really enjoy the gs, since valve clearances got sorted, pull like a steam train and nice soundtrack to go with it :biggrin:

The nearest dealers are in PE and I got a wiff of the GS issues. Problem is that I am 3 hours from the nearest dealer and cannot just pop in to discuss issues.
