More wildlife from my garden.
Can anyone identify either of these things?

I had to be in Phalabora too do some work at the mine which thankfully ended early in the afternoon. That meant I had about 3 hours to spend in the Kruger national park. So I grabbed my camera hoping that I might be lucky and find some wild life to photograph. I was told there is a water hole not far from the Phalabore gate and I might be able to see some animals there. Well it was late afternoon and the sun was shining so if anything I might get some good photos of the water hole and some sunset pics if there were no animals around. But I was hoping to get a pic or two of something have a late afternoon drink…….Today would end up being one of those days that will be very special to me. My luck was in big time.

Firstly the water hole wasn’t a water hole but a small lake. Secondly the elephants were there and in a playful mood. Also I was there alone except for one other bakkie which was parked some distance from me.

Small herd by the water

The old lady stood by while the young ones played and splashed about.

Thirsty working watching the young ones

There were 5 young calf in the water and they were in their element, splashing water around, climbing on one another’s backs and …well just being kids and having fun

Submarine time…

This little one was having a great time, I wish I was able to capture the pure joy that he was showing.

How more chilled can you get….

And then he came for his afternoon drink. I was so excited as this would be the first time I have been in the position to photograph a leopard in the wild. Unfortunately for me he chose the spot with the sun directly behind him and with the sun reflecting off the water. Well beggars can’t be choosers and I shoot off some pics.

Then after his drink it was nap time….

Here’s a couple more that I took on my way out the park.

Last photo…my all time favourite bird…The Fish Eagle.

I had 3 hrs of my life that will remember for the rest of my life.

I'm using a Sony Alfa 330 with a 75-300 lens that I got with the camera. I would love to up grade the lens to something decent. The lens is OK but it's saving grace is that both the camera body and the 2 lenses travel well on the bike. The other lens is a 18-55 but has plastics and not glass lens plates.
