When we saw the Bull Elephants, I had to take a photo...! Funny thing was that when I looked again, they were on a "mission" in our direction. I started reversing the Landy but next thing a little "hire" car had blocked our escape, with the young German couple both sitting in the backseat, frightened out of their wits.
At that stage I thought the best would be to sit tight and not move. These two Guys came at the vehicle and then scraped past on both sides but showed little aggression other than being very inquisitive. However, when anybody in the Landy moved they "eyed" us out.
In the meantime, another Bull came out the bush behind us and they just stood watching us. When I started moving the Landy forward, away from them, the bigger Bull came at us very aggressively. I only stopped again when we were quite far away.
One of the Park Rangers told us later that these are 3 Kruger Bulls that were translocated to the Addo and were still not disciplined by the other "resident" Addo Bulls yet.
Oh, we were also told that they hated green Landrovers because similar Landys were used to chase them down in the Kruger when they were darted...!!!
About a month after this experience, I was back in the Addo with Guests and one of these Bulls had an altercation with the most senior Bull Elephant in Addo, at the Domkrag Waterhole and killed it by knocking it over and then driving its tusk into the other Bulls brain. We arrived there shortly after it happened and I have to say it was really sad to see a Big Guy like that "in a pile".
The next morning we went back and the Elephants Tusks were gone...!!!!
Only after looking at the photos later at home on my PC did I realize how close those Guys came to us.
