Lionesses feeding on Young Buffalo
« Reply #584 on: September 26, 2017, 02:02:37 pm »
As i'm on my way far  south in the Greater Addo, I stumble on a heard off buffalo's acting very strange about something.
Approaching the heard I noticed all buffalo's fleeing, but one running in the opposite direction to a old bull taking a bath in the mud (dagga boy).
Out of the corner of my eye I saw what I hoped for, 3 female Kalahari lions on a young buffalo.
Second's later the female and the old bull return to the young being torn apart, after chasing the 3 lionesses in a circle for about 20 min,
the male gave up and the lions started to feast! :drif:
because of size this is my top one...

I was really impressed with Addo!!! The buffalo look quite sick though, making for easy pickings by the lions!!

It is eating a honey bee. Maybe it's got a sweet tooth.

Robber fly is a long slender insect.

Definitely honey bee being eaten by a Carpenter bee. Never knew they ate other insects
