Im looking at a helmet up grade and natually thought of getting an Arai as they are "the best".
I went into a bike shop in CPT city centre and they have Arai there for 10k! I was then chatting to a friend and he said that he gets his helmets from England or the States, so checked online and found this: https://www.motoward.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=508_82_498&products_id=1495
the cost for the same Arai is GBP 355. now lets do the maths shall we....
GBP 355.00 x 11.05 (todays rate on iol.co.za) = ZAR 3922.75 + 40% import duties = ZAR 5491.85 + 30% mark up = ZAR 7139.40!
so is the extra ZAR 3000 per helmet transport costs? surely not!
Now i understand that the guy in England is paying less that GBP 355 per helmet but im just going on that price.
or am i totally wrong on this?
I guess the new battle cry for bike business's should be....... bite the pillow im coming in dry!
