This bug has bitten and now the questions start – please help a brother out here? As soon as I am able to sell the cruiser, I want to get a DS bike of some kind. My criteria is a follows (I know it seems a bit rough, but this is more or less what I would like to have)-
• I need to be able to commute with it – about 10km per day.
• It must be able to do some distance in comfort and at least be able to cruise at 120 - 130m/h.
• Not too fancy and cheap on maintenance.
• Not too expensive to buy or fix when I fall down.
• I’m still a novice rider.
• Not to heavy or too high – I have short legs.
• Capable off road
I have shortlisted the following and when I get time I will see if I am able to get some test rides:
• Kawasaki KLR 650 – price on these are excellent at the moment.
• Suzuki DR650SE/DR-Z400E
• Yamaha Tenere/XT600
• Honda Transalp
• BMW F800GS (a bit too expensive, but might look at pre-owned.
I know it’s a lot of questions, bit its big bucks and I don’t want to buy twice.
