FINALLY on Saturday night the decision was taken to meet at the Engen One Stop on the N1 and ride into the Cederberg and lunch at Oasis.
Sunday dawned cool and misty and by 7am Andy arrived soon followed by Anton and last sporting one huge babalas,  Kobus and then Francois.
After surviving a strong cup of coffee the group set off, first stop Wellington to meet Ulrich and his daughter Clara a total newbie to Wilddogs.
Nearing the top of Bains Kloof the mist and cloud lifted and we knew the day was set to become blistering hot.
On reaching Ceres we quickly filled up and were hoping to top up at Op Die Berg so that on the return we could go up and over Katbakkies and home via Theronsberg pass.

Unfortunately they only work civilised hours and up until 1pm on a Saturday so that plan went out the window.
Once on the gravel we only had to contend with the odd 4x4 heading towards us and allowing us to squeeze past.

By the time we reached Oasis the heat had really set in but relief came from a group of riders returning from the N cape and Karoo and their account of the flooded roads where a jetski would have been more useful than a motorcycle.

They had all taken falls, drowned a bike and filled their boots up with water. And hopefully they will post the photos which are really dramatic.
Huge T bones filled the empty cavities, the heat increased and we set off back via Nuwerus, which Andy promised was one of the  best kept secrets in the Cederberg.
And he is definitely correct. A camping spot, second to none. We also discovered a well used KTM in a barn. See the photo.
The return was unfortunately with a bit of drama as Ulrich had his radiator punctured by a flying stone, which Andy decided had come off my new Mitas back tyre.
Thanks to Pratley putty it was sealed and we soon hit the tar and headed for Ceres a quick drink, top up with juice and home.
All in another great days riding thanks to all who came along.
