Yep - just like the S10 was going to kill the maket for the 1200GS.

Ek wil nou nie snaaks wees nie Bollie, maar.....

Fact: Even BMW in its management forums have noted the arrival of the Super Tenere. Sales of the GS has fallen 50% vs budget and trends, yes half, since the introduction of the ST. Incidently, this 50% fall equates roughly to the number of ST's sold in SA.

My source is confidential, pm me if you want to discuss, I am not naming names in a public forum to boost my credibality.

The following is my opinion:
The Triumph is in the same market segment as the 800GS, but no, it will never have the same impact on the 800 as the ST had on the 1200GS, Triumph footprint is too small.

9/11:Are we going to have another mud-ride on the first weekend of Jan 2011?
Jy is verkeerd en ek kry die sales figures van amid af en glo my die ST is nie eers naby BMW nie  :thumleft:

WE know who won the 2 world wars dont we....

the triumph is a newer model an i daresay they looked long and hard at the opposition (the gs800) and realised in order to create a selling bike they at the least have to better the nearest opposition ...it is no surprise that sir alan felt the triumph is up to the task because i reckon at the very least it should ... if it were not i reckon triumph would not launch it.

but as a package with the bmw on call service an their reputation for backing up their product, triumph is not on par and one buys a bike as a complete package...so no doubt the triumph going to eat into the gs800 sales....... a whole lot but bm will bounce back ..

Does the article mention a release date for SA?

HAHAHA, some of you okes are either stupid or ill informed, well put Hentie.

That said the triumph does look good on paper and pictures, will be included in my next "new bike thought process", i am sure it has niggles just like the 800GS - will wait for them to iron them out though. As far as one report on the triumph goes, please wait for more articles before trying to seek attention on the forum.

Let me guess, Sir Allan Cathcart isn't British by any chance is he? I mean, I say old chap! As a jolly spiffing Brit, how could he possibly come to any other conclusion. How could he possibly vote in favour of that nasty Jerry contraption? Good heavens man; you really ought to read with more circumspection, I say what, what.

Ofcourse he'll support the Truimph , just like Top Gear guys (My favourite car show) support Jaguar , Mondeo and Austin Martin. Nothing can beat Brithish tech , not even the Nazi Germans with their stupid Merc's , Bmw's , Porche's or BMW BIKES !! They will go to extreme measures to prove that British are still the best and most clever country ................................ in the world !!!  :thumleft:
daar was tot 'n program op DSTV oor "great machines invented by the British " of iets...kan hulle dan so baie van hulle self dink :peepwall:
If the Germans had a show like that it would run for 50 seasons or more !

??? Well, then I hope the Bike SA team reads this and ban any articles by Sir Allan Cathcart in future, unless it's in favour of the German brand.

All I can comment on is what I see on the road - and on the forum ....

Six months ago in the "What Bike" thread there was one S10 on the forum - today there are 5 (I count about 8 posters in the S10 thread) - in the same time, the BMW 1200 went from 138 to 171 - If I were a BMW dealership, I would not exactly be peeing in my pants.
Life is tough - get a helmet!

A Tiger 800 XC ABS for me please, but I like the F800GS as well - now we have a choice.  :thumleft:

If you had a Triumph with a triple, you will know what great bikes they are.  Is the Triumph Tiger 800XC on par with the BM? Will have to see, but it's a great motor on board.  Will definitely go for a test drive.

I don't trust road reports in magazine, the reporter have to write good stuff other wise he won't be invited again.   :peepwall: :pot:

Oh dear, the Trumpet looks like a BMW, shame and an R1 looks nothing like a GSXR or Blade? Established good layout, just a compliment 8)

:pot: Reading through the substantial amount of replies to this thread, also taking into account the dozens of hijackings, it's clear that the Tiger is facing a tremendous uphill battle in SA. It's like a 'white male' entering a government job interview against 10 'black ladies', starting of with minus 50 points, and a whole panel of superiors glaring at you with hate in their eyes.

And the 800GS looks a bit like the old DR big ;)

I think the triumph looks neat although there seems to be allot that can break off?
On a parting note off the topic, I think if Yamaha had put all their super 10 r&d into an 800 odd cc version of the 660z they would have a winner :mwink:
