so I might be riding a husky in the future :peepwall: I do believe they will put a better suspension in the bike

i have 4 wishes:
1. it's more than a vicious rumour and they actually go ahead and do it
2. they continue their tradition of putting great components on their bikes - i.e. excel rims, good suspension, etc, etc
3. it turns out to be a husky 800cc HP2 type bike
4. I can afford one
 :mwink:

who stocks excel rims around here ???

a couple of places - chat to Sack, I saw an excel rim on his 800GS the other day

bulletproof!

??? Well, then I hope the Bike SA team reads this and ban any articles by Sir Allan Cathcart in future, unless it's in favour of the German brand.

An article in Bike SA?, C'mmon they don't do those, theres not enough pages with all the adds they run!

Yep - just like the S10 was going to kill the maket for the 1200GS.

Ek wil nou nie snaaks wees nie Bollie, maar.....

Fact: Even BMW in its management forums have noted the arrival of the Super Tenere. Sales of the GS has fallen 50% vs budget and trends, yes half, since the introduction of the ST. Incidently, this 50% fall equates roughly to the number of ST's sold in SA.

really?:thumright:

My source is confidential, pm me if you want to discuss, I am not naming names in a public forum to boost my credibality.

The following is my opinion:
The Triumph is in the same market segment as the 800GS, but no, it will never have the same impact on the 800 as the ST had on the 1200GS, Triumph footprint is too small.

9/11:Are we going to have another mud-ride on the first weekend of Jan 2011?

if land rover, alfa romeo and triumph were really 'that bad and unreliable' they would have closed doors years ago.  unfortunately when something sticks, it sticks.

this new triumph looks damn nice and it is a huge compliment to bmw at the end of the day.  lets see what the japs will come up with.

i wouldn't buy this bike for the same reason i wouldn't buy the bmw 800.  simple, i want a thumper, not too much power etc ... horses for courses.

if i had to choose though between the triumph 800 and the bmw 800 i think i'd go for the triumph.  it looks better imo (the bmw also looks great btw), and that 3 cyl engine has such a brilliant reputation.  it clearly looks like triumph have done there homework, i got exactly the same impression with the yamaha xtz.    once again, this whole unreliability crap is uncalled for, it's an unfortunate label that's stuck.  bmw have had plenty niggles but no one calls them unreliable.  they've been stuck with the 'smug and aloof' label.  oh well.

Seems like there is a few things they did right... :mwink:

Very nice. Those pipes won't look that shiny for long though..... Some aftermarket goodies to protect the engine and some proper crash bars will have to be fitted.

But, very very nice!

They looked very closely at BMW when they design this bike. They said from the start that will be the market they would like to challenge.
What do you think is the bike in the background - during their design phase?

What a beauty!

Like to have a go when they land here, nicer looking than the bmw in imo :drif:

Now if they can get their arses into gear and get more than the one dealer, in WC, that would be even better. Let's hope that it does not suffer like Aprilia with the one dealer in CT. Brilliant bikes let down by the lack of dealers

I wonder how true the rumour is about the 1200 Tiger for 2012.... Now that would be a monster ....   :mwink:
Kawasaki KH 175 - sold
Kawasaki KLR 650 - sold
Suzuki V-Strom 1000 - sold
BMW 1200 GS - sold
BMW 1200 GSA - loving it

They're comming. But there will be another year of Triumph's stupid marketing campaign of months waiting for releases and 'spy shots' leaking...
.
.
Personally I don't like them yet, it look uge, then again I think it is far from the end product, but who am I to know, I only read what they said in forums...  ???

Toseland dumped by Yamaha. About time, brilliant rider, not being pulling his weight. And this is for me the problem with all these bikes, their weight.

If you're not old enought for a BMW, or not windgat enought for a KTM, the truimph tiger is the bike for you.

the bike will be available March/April 2011. there is a truimph in my future, but its a little more conventional, mmm....
