Hi All
1st post here and looking for advice.
I am in the process of ordering a new XT660R via a dealer in SA for use in Kenya, mostly on (very bad) tarmac. This is not serious 'adventure' type riding, but will involve some long trips as well as city commuting.
I have never biked in Africa (although driven 4wd cars on and off road a lot) and I am wondering about tyres. Punctures seem to be about 10 times more frequent here than in Europe. Do people usually fit tubes to tyres and repair them ? Or use tubeless and some kind of plug system ? And just carry a can of gunge ?
Any advice appreciated.
Also, any suggestions for mods and accessories I should get with the bike ? It will be difficult to import heavy/bulky stuff later. I have top box and panniers and extended wind shield on my list so far.
Thanks!
