In the repair CD the final drive oil must be Castrol SAF-XO gear oil, synthetic 75w90, our BMW dealer can't sell it to me because they don't use it. I actually don't know what they use. The thing is I can't get hold of .23ml of the stuff anywhere.
I went and bought Castrol EPX 80w90 GL5 mineral oil to use in the FD, is this any good or must I try and source some other brand?
The gearbox specify Castrol 90w gearbox oil GL5 the guy at Midas got me Castrol BOT130M Synthetic GL 1to 4GL oil, I haven't used it yet. Problem with this is a GL5 have double the amount of additives than GL4 and brass parts can be damage with a GL4 oil. Any suggestions on this?
The GL5 rating is for shock load applications.
