The majority of folks on this forum are above average riders. So a comparison here - the average is above the norm. Good luck with the results.
Bikes owned: Yamaha MR50, Honda MT5, Suzuki A80, Honda Transalp 700, BMW F650GS (Twin) BMW 800GS, Honda CBR300R, BMW F800R, BMW1200GS LC Sym Symphony 150 Current bikes: Another BMW 1200GS. BMWG310GS (For my son to learn on)

Really ..............whats the point of this poll? ???

Everybody is being very polite and modest. Where are the ' I'm F$&^$&Cking Brilliant guys' out there? If someone thinks he's the shit on a bike than we would most would probably think he's a tosser for saying so?)

(if Bluebull2007 did that rally in Brazil, then surely he's average must be higher?)

How can some of you be crap on tar but not bad off-road? does not make sense.

......or are we just becoming old and carefull? ( Where's Etiiene2T - he's always confidant with his statements?).....maybe there should be an age catagory around the averages???

.....still don't see the bigger picture of this poll. ???

It's like moving into a different mind set moving off tar for me.

Tar = Lot's of road users and dangers = concentration and focus split between many variables to take into account.

Dirt = Sort of the opposite of above. Focus is more on the riding and road ahead than other external factors.

Maybe not a good analogy and definitely not the best approach to follow. One should be equally vigilant whether tar or dirt.

I sort off can keep up with the okes on rides when we are on dirt. When we hit the tar sections, I fall way behind. :P

My take on it anyway as a recreational rider. For the experienced guys who does thousands of km's tar/dirt each year, the above is maybe not relevant.

Above applies to me also

Furthermore I love dirt riding and I am comfortable on most surfaces, not on sand thou and I hate rocks, big rocks, Roof of Africa type rocks, rocks I really hate them, so this poll applies to me and I think it is relevant.

On sand I am not comfortable on my 950, but I have no problem on my 690, that's why I bought the 690 to do sand and tours with lost of sand on it, big difference between 690 on sand and the 950.

I think it is a great poll. Not all DS owners are Dogs so it is possible that the average Dog is a better rider than the average DS owner. We are more fanatical anyway. >:D

My gravel skills is a lot better than my ability to ride on tar as I do not normally even use my bike for tar riding. That said, I think your off-road skill will be directly link to your fitness level.

It does not matter how good you are, if you get tired the sandmonster will get you!  :ricky:

Take my advice; I don't use it anyway.

I can ride any and every surface as long as I can do it at my own pace.
I can ride almost any enduro track without falling or perhaps even without putting a foot down as long as you don't throw 20 other guys on the course with me and tell me that last one back is a rotten egg. Then I suck
