Northern Cape - Kenhardt Hotel

Are you on your way to Verneukpan or on your way back from it?
What you need is a cold beer and I wholeheartedly recommend Kenhardt hotel.

It is run by a very friendly guy called Eeton Wickens.

Eeton offered us his yard to camp in for free. He offered free use of his telephone to organise a night on Verneukpan. If we decided to remain in the bar and needed a room, he was willing to give us a discounted price of below R100 per person in his best rooms.

As an avid biker himself, Eeton only has one request when you visit his hotel, and that is to sign his wall.

Thanks for your hospitality Eeton!

Every biker HAS to spend at least one night in the Kenhardt hotel.

 Gotta agree with LS and SGB, between Eeton and his missus, Suzette, man they can really make you feel welcome.

We got an excellent room there with aircon, etc. the rates were excellent, food was excellent. For a person that doesn't eat lamb, my mouth still waters when I think about the lamb chops we had for brekkies  8)

Highly recommended

LS, I have a bunch of pics, want me to post them here?  :?

When in doubt, Gas It! It may not solve the problem, but it WILL end the suspense!

... da pub, yep my favourite place  :P  :D ... my mate Clive from PE on da left, with Suzette and Eeton behind the pub.

Hotel Foyer: That's Eeton's R1 parked there

... they even the "Just Married" delivery vehicle there. One day, if I ever get married, I will rent this "Limo"... as is   , ie, no donkeys to pull it... there's no way I'm gonna rush to get to the church  :P  :D  :D

Eeton on the left with one of the locals, I forgot his name   ... he kept insisting we go hunting for jackals in the middle of the night   ... after a few dops I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the jackal and the sheep in its mouth   :D ... so I kindly declined

Suzette:

The dining hall, we opted to eat dinner at the bar counter, but brekkies we had here. Old and quaint, but nice decor and suits the place  8)

Yep, they even had a "wireless"

... in the "old days", what the place looked like:

... and now. Note the doughnuts in front of the hotel from all the burnouts done by the GSes that go there :P  :D  :D

... interestingly enough, Mr Loxton was an important person I gather  :? I haven't done any research about the area, but I assume that is where the town Loxton got its name from.

... and now I can humbly admit I have been near Putsonderwater    :D ... one day when I'm big and I get myself a DS bike, I will go there   8)

... and that's all folks. The other pics aren't that interesting, just kuiering at the pub and some misbehaving
