Author Topic: Why all the BMW bashing ? (Read 3695 times)

I have been arounf this forum for the last month or three. But have not posted a lot as you can see by my post count. I only say something when I can make a contribution.

What I am perplexed about is the reasoning behind so many of the WD forum members wanting to take a shot at BMW and BMW riders. Why is this happening, most of the issues are about BMW riders not mixing with other riders or BMW riders thinking they are in some way superior to other riders.

Your bashing antics is actually devoid of any logic, there are quite a few BMW riders here, the point being we are HERE..... so why bash us ? You are bashing the wrong people !!!!

I am seriously not trying to pick a fight here. But allow me to ask the following, are you so seriously irritated by BMW's and BMW riders that you do not want us (me) here, should I rather stay away, or is this forum meant to be a place where we can interact because we have the same interests, passions and hobbies in life ?

I ride a BM and even on the rides the guys make fun of the BM on the back of the bakkie etc. But its all humor, not to worry. Jealousy makes u nasty

As a matter of interest, the first two of the links mentioned were actually started by BMW owners. The third link is IMO not a bashing post, but was posted under Vermaaklikheid as a bit of light hearted humour. Some of the BMW abbreviations are actually very pro-BMW. :shock:

I think that none of it is really intended to be taken serious (certain posts can point to a different conclusion though).

Overall it's all good.

You basically have the 3 groups taking a piss out of the other ones when they get the chance - BMW, KTM and KLR riders...

I tend to enjoy it.

It's like me making jokes about my skoonma. She is actually wonderful, but a 'skoonma' is made to be made fun of ...

As long as it stays in the same manner as what it's been done up to now.

Exaclty my point... playing around and joking with each other is part of the fun, my problem is that two of the listed topics turned SOUR in a BIG way. That is what I am talking about, not all the fun and games.

it's all good fun

sometimes someone goes a little too far with the joking but you just have to grin and take it on the chin

KTM's are k@k bikes.

I could never understand why fine people like WD members sink so low to ride a KTM. Same goes for Honda. Suzuki as well. Oh and Kawasaki.

They also stand when riding which is not fair. It should be reserved to BMW riders only. Blerry copycats!

Maybe the bashing balance is more in line now.

Bashing each other's bike now-and-then is part of the forum, IMO. As long as it is done in good spirit.

Generalization is the problem. But that goes for across the board. Not only BMW's.

Except KLR. All KLR owners at least agree that the KLR is a plaasbike.

Oh. Sorry. Does that count as bashing as well?

I see the tar road for the BMW's

so the rest of the area must be for the KTM's and KLR's. Must come and visit.

Such an insignificant bike I completely forgot about it. Sorry. :oops:

On a more serious note:

I wonder how many members are actually "qualified" to bash different bikes? (I.t.o. actual extended riding experience on the different brands and models)

I for one are not.

My riding experience with fellow WD's over time have at least shown me that there is no basis in bashing any of the DS bikes and/or their owners.

But the pot does need a stir now and then!

Just a TEENY WEENY bit seriously:

BMW (the company) doesn't just sell what are essentially bloody good cars and bikes, they also sell a lifestyle and boy, that lends itself to some bashing.

However, I don't think there is one BMW rider on this forum who buys into that, but hell, they get the flak anyway !!!!!
