Sjoe almost R40000 for nav equipment :o

So if I am right you own the MD roadbook, ICO, mount bracket for GPS and the antennas?

Tau you are correct.

Please remember that the 3000 Euro deposit gets returned to you should you have not destroyed the unit during the event. I only know of 1 person that had to pay for this as his entire bike burnt out on the start of day 3 in 2007.

One day when i am Brave enough to calculate the costs I will Publish them for you all to see. I think i have saved a huge amount of the costs by buying the items Direct from the Vendors.

GPS repeater?????
GPS repeater or CAP Repeaters are for the Serious guys like Coma and Despres. Mainly only used in the Dakar rally. I spoke to Sean Gaugain about them yesterday, it sounds very Difficult and involved.

Ok Guys. had a little bit of Progress Today. I went past Honda to get all my Engine Parts  for the Bike. A little premature but I prefer not to leave everything until the last minute.

I am Planning to Strip the Bike on the 2nd of March.

In order for me to tell you what i am replacing it is maybe easier to tell you what is not being replaced.

So from the Top:
1. Cam Cover
2. Cam Shafts
3. Cylinder head
4. Left Engine Casing
5. Right Engine Casing
6. Counter balancer
7. Primary Drive Shaft
8. Both Gearbox shafts
9. Flywheel
10. Starter Motor
11. Kick starter Ass.

Well that is basically that.

I have been reading up on the FIM Homologations and i see that I am allowed to work on the head. I figured i would just clean the ports up and give it one hell of a polish.

Photos will follow when i Start the work.

Bad news from Kenesis, during the 3 hour endurance race last Friday just after CP2, Al hit a piece of concrete that was under the sand  >:(, did a handstand on the handlebars and the result is a broken collar bone :( He might get an operation today but as of yesterday is undecided what is best. I will keep you posted.

Hi there Guys.

As you can see from SkaiiDawgs earlier post I had a little mishap on my 14th Lap of the Ajman Enduro.

I was having an awesome race and for my standards I was flying! I know that i was definately 4th in my class at the time. Even possibly in 3rd due to the Guy in third running on a 6 litre tanks and i was on a 12 litre tank meaning that i only have to stop every 8 laps versus his 3 - 4 laps.

I came out of Check point 2 and went hard onto the gas as 100 Meters away was a one storey high Dune that was awesome to jump up and  about halfway while i was siting on my butt i hit a Concrete Block that as many of you know the front wheel loves to go over forcing the rear shock to compress and then send you flying into the sky!

It all happened so fast that i felt my Spine compress and the next thing I was almost over the bars  when i came crashing down on my left side. I felt the blow to my shoulder and heard the snapping noise and well the rest is History.

I have been to our Hospital for Xrays and I have finally opted not to have the Operation to plate the Clavicle. I am assured that it will grow back in 3 to 6 weeks and then it will take upto 20 weeks for it to heal properly!

This means that i am with drawing my entry to this years Abu Dhabi desert Challenge and I make it my 2012 Challenge to do the Desert Challenge or maybe even go to Egypt or Tunisia depending on their political stability at the time!

I cannot begin to describe my feelings at the moment as i have gone from euphoria to an all time low! How ever i would like to thank my Family, Specially my Wife( yes Babes I promise to only hurt myself and not kill myself! You wont be getting rid of me that easily!) and my Freinds for all your support in the last 2 days!

What shitty luck. Really sorry to hear.

You have to be absolutely smashed to have the guts to attempt it,

Damn thats crap news.....glad ur more or less ok.

I had 2 ribs plated while back cause they just would not mend alone in 4-6 wk period.  It was worth plating in the end.  1 wk later i was back on my bike.  Think bout the plating option :thumleft:

+1

I had a compound fracture of my CB - took nearly 12 weeks to knit properly - but then, I'm an old fart  :D
Whichever route you go, I hope it heals soon!  :thumleft:

Only read this now, thats bloody terrible news brother....I was so looking forward to your rally this year too. Hey, it gives you more time to prepare physically and practice for next year I guess.

Youre still going to carry on with the rebuild or will that also be on hold?

How is your collarbone doing?

Hey Guys.

Sorry there is still no good news regarding my Collar bone. Took an x-ray again on Thursday and Surprise surprise it is still broken. I have to seriously consider getting the plate and Screws put in. In Hind sight i should have just done it that way the first time around and I could possibly started riding this week.

Ok enough about the depressing stuff.

I am goint to continue the build on my bike. My Safari tanks have arrived and  all the new plastics.

Here is the Before Pic.

Some of the parts

Bike Naked!

New Tank. I had to change my Radiator guuards with the new Force guards that came with the tank.

Old Guards

The New guards

The Tank on.

The new rear plastics

As i do more i will post !

Cheers
