I assume that there is a problem with Bike No. 15 Justin Taylor. Been Standing Still for about 35 min now.

This could have something to do with the 147 Km/H that i saw him doing earlier.

Bad News, maybe not really bad news but the Fuel truck did not arrive at PC 2 and the bikes could not refuel so they are going to Liason through to the bivouac. A bit crap for those who started slowly!

So after todays Joke of a hour and thirty minute late fuel delivery meant that the bike Field only completed upto PC 2 when they were directed to travel to the bivouac via liason.

Here are the results of the Days events. Funny how Marc Coma Reeled them all in.

Leg 2 is 290 Km of the toughest Dunes that there is to See.

Awesome pics! Did Brittany Erasmus finish stage 1? Cannot see her name on the list, but seems there may be a second page.

I spoke to Brittany`s dad yesterday at around 3 and he told me that she had reached the service stop PC 2. So she had made it.

I am really impressed with her and she is chugging along for her finish in the challenge!

She also seems to have a good Day 2.

Leg 2`s Round Up.

Ride Report courtesy of my  Mate Matthew Trehey.

The first half of Day 2 was an awesome flowing sections with lovelly dunes to look at. After the refuel it became Technical with a lot of cresting Dunes.

In All a much nicer Day than day one.

So the Results from leg 2

My Other Freind James West has had an Excellent day today despite his complaints of the Bike bottoming out consistenly. I hope he doesnt Rupture that rear tank!

I am leaving for the Bivouac at 12:00 tomorow. I will try and get you many more pics. I will try and post some stuff from there.

Cheers

Ok here is the Route map for Day 3

I finally managed to Leave worka and my mate Sean Gaugain Asked me to Bring a spare bike through for them.

It is the bike in the middle. I have no idea why the Organisers were puzzled by it. Maybe its lack of wheels.

Sean Organised for us to stay in their Camp, Thanks Boet!

Here are some Pics of the Gecko Team!

Brittany and Steve you

The Al Yasi team came to Change tures with Mousse. Quite the tyre change i must say!
 Cameron and Joe

Day 3 was not a good day for Sam Sunderland as his Motor gave out in the first part of the Stage. A quick repair was done and it was later found not good enough so they changed the Engine to which I was woken up at 02:30 when they went screaming around for an hour. Then it was Solid as a rock!

Day 4 had its own challenges. James west had opted not to Ride Day 3 due to the broken bones in his hand. It swelled up something unbelievable.

Here is the map of the days route.

I would like to bring to your attention about one young gent, Sam Sunderland. He is 21 Years old and he has made a HUGE impression on the world with his efforts here at the Abu Dhabi desert challenge.

This is Sam`s first desert challenge and all i can say about him is that he is very fast. This last year through the Moto X season he literally laps every one. He is an ambassador for the sport helping to organise events, setting up routes etc.

As I said in one of my earlier posts is that Sam would do very well and i hope he can navigate! Sam has done just that.

Day one he took a steady start and completed the stage in 1hr 49 min and 2 sec which put him in 12th place some 23 min behind Marc Coma.
Day two Sam started at 08h19 in the morning and finished 1st in a time of 4hr 10 min 15 Sec some 13 min and 11 sec ahead of Marc Coma.
Day three was a very Disappointing day for Sam as a mechanical failure  prevented him from completing Stage 3 or 4 on Day 3. KTM UAE worked Feverishly to get the bike ready and I was woken up at 02h30 in the morning while some mad man raced around to run the bike in.
Day 4, Now this is where things get very interesting Even Marc Coma and Helder Rodriguez could not fathom what had transpired. So to Put it Simply Sam Started Day 4 at 08h08, 30 sec and Completed the stage in 4hrs 50min and 51 Sec which put him Ahead of Marc Coma by 28 Min and 36 Sec and 19 Min and 41 sec ahead of the second fastest for the day Ruben Faria.

Impressive Stuff!  GO SAM!

Sometimes we get to meet really nice people, I met Simon Pavey on Wednesday. Simon came through to see how Brittany was doing and lend her some support! We shared some Beers and I Braai`d for them. He really likes good `ol Boerewors and he really likes my rare Rump Steak.

There were many interesting conversations from bikes to the Dakar. Simon is a Legend! I must laugh though as one of the guys laid it on thick and Said that Simon is privileged to ride in the Dakar to which Simon said he was not as all it takes is a credit card! I think it was his way of saying that there are many ways to do the Dakar so do not take yourself out because of money!
