Now I am convinced.
A 1150GS is a bitch in thick sand!  Jacques and I went "playing" in the Elgin mountains last Saturday, and discovered this 100m thick sandy twee spoor. We changed bikes a few times and his 1150GS is much worse in sand than my 1200GS. F..k that thing is heavy! I am still aching of picking it up a few times

I also discovered the following:
- Even more dificult than thick twee spoor sand, is going downhill on thick twee spoor sand!
- 1200GS is very versatile, but I must consider going for something lighter
- Always take much more water than what you think you will need. We ran out of water and got stuck in a narrow valley (ravyn?). Sliding those bikes back and forth on a single track took care of our water supply!

So, my question shortly might be something like. "800GS or HP2"? Will have to ride them back to back somehow I suppose!
