Beautiful stuff - pics are outstanding.  Thanks for the pics of the wolf sanctuary and yes, heartbreaking stuff that there are people out there who seem to want them and then dump them, leaving it up to others to try and solve the problem.....

But the ride itself - great stuff !

The three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40 and a hammer.  If it moves and it shouldn't, use the duct tape.  If it doesn't move and it should, use the WD-40.  Otherwise use the hammer.

Wino, very nice report and some spectacular pictures to go with it.

We crossed paths on Friday (13) morning at the Heuweltop turnoff. Myself, African Sky and RTR were heading towards Lesotho to ride the Kao Mine road. Will post a report later.

Only saw the forum sticker after you had pulled off! Sorry

Not to say that group rides and trips aren't great and rewarding But solo trips for me are so fullfilling in all respects. Thanks for the report and fantastic photos.

Damn, this is an excellent report. :!:
Thanks for taking the trouble to post it, Wino. It lights up my day. :)

Do you feel that travelling alone is better than travelling with company?
I always feel restless when travelling alone. It takes me a while (two or more days) to switch to "off mode" so I can stop thinking about the destination and focus on the journey.

just about 6k, must admit, i don't keep tally of this or petrol consumption. it distracts me too much

plottes, i passed you guys about 20k's from notts (you were on the way to himeville), about 5k's on the gravel, just before a bridge. the guy in front on the 950 waved, the 2nd 950 rider (you, i suppose) was looking at something on the bike, the 640 rider was standing and nodded and the guy on the ta looked like he was hiding behind the fairing :D

bmad, no probs, there was not a pub close by in any case. at least we had a very quick chat
