Bridges over the Berg River
« on: March 10, 2011, 12:49:24 am »
Last Sunday , we went in search of as many bridges that we could find that crossed the berg river from Wellington to Velddift.
It was :.
1.Crossed-Up
2.Andy660
3.Powerflow Justin
4.AntonW
5.Mild dog

One of the interesting bridges had a wooden footbridge next to it in the air.
Which Powerflow Justin insisted on walking over , thankfully he didnt fall.

Here are some of the other bridges

we also came across this bakkie that must have rolled on Friday night , I wonder why ? check all the evidence

Nice roads, care to share the exact route?

Oh, who did the 660 to 880 conversion?
Cost?
Much better performance?

Nice roads out there, I did a couple of those bridges over Dec whilst staying in Langabaan. Used the river a bit ,was hitting 40C ,  :dousing:my GPS was melting and shutting down at times.

It was a "grand day out".  The weather started out cool but soon warmed up quite dramatically.
First stop was Justin's folly.

That bridge he's crossing was seriously broken and dangerous.  Glad he made it.

Then when we got to Riebeek-Wes we encountered the Swartland's impeccable taste:

Later we had a demonstration of what we should have been doing:

Finally we ended up in Bridgetown.  A very strange place.  There's no town and no bridge.  Nice campsite on the river with all facilities just crying out for a WD invasion!

There's an old building busy falling down.  I think it's a 19th century blacksmith's shop, but this is not my field.

Great ride, fun company.  Life doesn't get better.  Thanks.
