Will do ride report sometime soon.

Wanted to post some of the NIGHT SHOTS.....Taken after 10PM on a Dark and Dusty road 5km outside town.

WOW, those photos are amazing!
Nice one, I love the bottom one of the Church, looks like Disneyland.

Please share at least one of them with me as a wallpaper, preferably the one of the 1200 GS.

I wish Merweville was close to JHB, as a Van der Merwe, it must be an awesome experience.

Excellent photos!

Ahhh A2J these are great my bud...I like the Composition allot.

Ive been batteling with focus at Night

I find its a hit and miss when trying to do star trails.

Most SLR cannot focus on the stars and therefore you need to fous manually....AND DONT FORGET to put the STABELIZER OFF ...VERY NBNBNB

I now carry a fairly potent TORCH called a LED LENZER M14...Shines 300m  http://www.ledlenser.co.za/categories/M-Series/

I find I can use it to shine on the object and get the SLR to focus using the AUTO Focus....then Hide it and SHOOT.

Would love to hear from anyone else about Tips and Tricks for night shots

I prefer to set the focus to manual and then just use a Petzl headlamp to see what I'm doing. Set to infinity or judge the distance to the subject, for instance the bike.
Sturdy tripod, it's a schlep to drag along but it is worthwile.
As you stated, switch stabilizer OFF.
I use a cable remote and activate 'Mirror Lock Up'....it does make a difference.

Sorry no pics to post now, my desktop's power supply is knackered.
