New 2011 BMW G 650 GS

This is probably already discussed somewhere as Iím famous for posting history but here goes anyway. :thumleft:

What do you okes think of the new single cylinder BMW G 650 GS?

Itís a water cooled engine that pumps out 35.8kw, 60Nm. There's also a power reduction version that puts out 25 kW, 47Nm.

Apparently itís completely redesigned to be more enduro friendly and it comes out in two colors, aura white and a orange red.

I think itís a bit overpriced at R73 000 or R81 272 with ABS braking and heated grips but looks more aggressive than the previous model. I'll give it a  :thumleft:

I agree with ETS the engine looks just like the Collar's engine, and the gezaust looks exactly the same

Apparently it's the X- Challenge engine.

Does anyone know if the plastics will fit the older Dakar's. It will look flippen good.

I want to get Mrs. J-mo a bike sometime. She grew up in Tweeling, ( I don't know where it is either     ) a Freestate farmer community and they used to ride a lot on weekends on an old Sas PE 250. She loves riding, but wants something she would be able to handle and I was thinking that this would be an great option.  :thumleft:

They said they changed the design, but it will be interesting to know if that's possible. I'll see how my day goes tomorrow, maybe make a turn at Continental and take it for a test ride.

It is a much better looker than my old 650GS

BUT no bash plate and alloy wheels will be a problem for adventure riding  - me thinks.

A  bash plate can always be a aftermarket add on but those alloy wheels I agree is a big no no when it comes to adventure riding.

Is that such a bad thing?

They are back due to popular demand.

The 650 Rotax has always been bullet proof and, I checked it out yesterday and smaak the looks. I wouldn't mind putting those plastics on my Dakie.

In full agreement, the rims are super shit. Looks 80 ish.

bleh.. more of the same

That design looks fine for Europe and out of character in Africa.
