I did a quick tour with my old '85 XT 600 Ténéré (39E / 34L) recently. Did 3600km in total, averaged 22,5 km/l and only the rev meter got broken. Used 250 ml of oil each 1000km - which is not that bad for an old bike....
Went up for a business meeting in Midrand actually - from Bredasdorp I took the route via R62 to Oudtshoorn and the up north via Kimberley - very beautifully repaired road now. Went up to Pietersburg region - got a lot of traffic on a Friday afternoon to get out of Pretoria up north!!! The way back was via Midderburg Cape and Graaf-Reinette/George/Malgas etc. The N1 still being worked on between Bloem and Colesburg! Also some patches and work on the N2 - as the Buff Rally Guys should have seen...
Great 'head-cleaning' trip!!!
