Wild dogs for Wild Dogs
« on: March 29, 2011, 01:54:27 pm »
Hey guys,

Listening to 702 yesterday, heard a report of a guy that is going to hike to the North Pole partly to raise money for SA's Wild Dogs (the real dogs - not us rebates)...

Think his name is Justin (anyone got more details?).

He said something like there are only 400 wild dogs left in SA !!!!!!!!!

Maybe we should go back to our roots and help the real dogs...

We were great helping out the young lass in PE who was knocked off her dad's bike on the toy run, so we know that we are  a charitable bunch.

Can we not get behind this guy and all chip in to help save the real Wild Dogs?? Or have I missed on-going Wild Dog fund raising?

I'll contribute.

What say you?

My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye
A dream unthreatened by the morning light Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night Tongue tied and twisted just an earth bound misfit. I

Thru this thread I was contacted by a few people, and eventually I got hold of the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT).

I have had a meeting with them (Tammy and Vanessa) and we have formulated a Plan Of Action.

Our first plan is awareness. We need as many Dogs (that is us reprobates) to know and become aware of Wild Dogs and their plight, which is bad.

There are only about 400 free roaming Wild Dogs in SA !!!! The EWT are involved in various initiatives to save the Wild Dog from extinction.

As the the Wild Dogs, we need to help save our name sake, the real Wild Dogs. Guys we need help from you. We need you to become involved.

At first, like I said, it's going to be mostly awareness, but later, for those that are willing, we'll open your wallets.

Tammy of the EWT has become one of us, and she'll comment shortly.

I have taken on the position of Point Man on this. Kilroy (da boss) has bought in, as have a few others. Ideally we need all Dogs to buy in on this. The Dogs in Gauteng, Western Cape, KZN, Eastern Cape, the North. Hell Namibia Bots and Zim too. All of us guys....

We use their name, we should give something back.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee

Hi Wild Dogs

Firstly from the EWT we would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU for your interest and future support. As Gareth (TInton) mentioned they are the second most endangered carnivore in Africa (after the Ethiopian Wolf) and they need all the support we can give them. Traditionally people have hated them because they assume that they are cruel hunters, however they are effective and fast with prey being devoured in two minutes.

I, representing the EWT am very keen to start the project with the "Human Wild Dogs" with an awareness drive.

How many of you can track a Wild Dog?
Do you know the latin name of the Wild Dog?.........

What we would like to to do is to meet all you Human Wild Dogs so we can introduce ourselves and you can get to know our team. It would be great to hear all your ideas on how we can get this going and spread the word. We cannot afford to lose these charasmatic carnivores and are really looking forward to joining forces with you all.

Looking forward to all your ideas
Tammy (Pictus)
