Great stuff Titanic, that's the way to do it. Suffering for 11 or 12 hours must be really terrible. I've decided if I'm ever going to run that race it's 9 hours or nothing.

Well done Titanic. I came in just over 10 and a half hours and number 11 in the bag.  Fastest time in 6 years so I am happy. I again missed the Wilddog's tent/Gazebo. How did the other dogs do ?

Of course I don't run and smoke.

I stop, smoke and then continue running. A bad habit I just can't kick. Only my 2nd Comrades in 18 where I did not stop to smoke.

I can show you a photo, but I'm not particularly proud of it so won't share it.
I hope you did not think all runners are non smokers?

No I did not think that BUT to be a smoker and run the Comrades you have to be much fitter than everyone else.
When I was still a smoker (ex 11 years) I certainly did not have the urge to run the Comrades and IF and when I felt the urge I sat down lit my pipe and waited until the urge went away!!! :lol8: :lol8: :lol8: >:D

Western States also coming up soon, Ryan Sandes entered again.

But, I digress, this is the ROAD RUNNING thread.

I have been following the Barklay Marathon for the last three years and it must be one of the most epic races that exist. Plus its almost impossible to get an entry.
There is nothing like pushing your limits whether on trail running or road running. Hope all those who have run this Comrades this year have recovered and are back on the road and training again.
This machine will take you places!

I was fortunate in that our firm has a wild card entry that we can use as we sponsor the event. I figure let me run it  at least once, Im not going for any particular time but rather just finishing the race which for me will be enough of an achievement. I dont want to give up as I have already put in quite a bit of training although it isnt as much a I hoped. As a mate of mine who has run Comrades 10 times said there is no perfect way to train at the end of the day you get to race day and you give everything you have and finish.  :thumleft:

Well I completed the  Rhodes Run :thumleft: Unfortunately I ran 9.15 hrs and missed the cut off of 9hrs by 15 mins but I got to the end. However, having never run a marathon, an ultra marathon, an organised 21km or a trail run of this nature and suffering with ITB for 4 months which meant I only did 380kms of running,  I thought it was quite an achievement :)  I will certainly be back for my medal :)

Eish!!

Longontsteking   :-\

Kannie vir jou se oor 42.2's nie, eks maar nogsteeds ini 10k "range" haha. Mikpunt op die stadium is so Junie volgende jaar my eerste return to half marathon te doen, as ek eers weer sub 25min 5k hardloop.

Lekker oefen manne.
