1200 Motor - Self Service - Good or Bad idea?

If you have a 2-wheeled vehicular transportation unit, which had a 1200 mill, and it is waaaay out of warrantee, and you dont care for a chup in your logboog, and you refuse to be shafted by OEM for parts and service, and you are moderately mechanically inclined.... this is getting to complicated.

Is self service (just lubes and filters, not valve clearance) a good idea?







PS. Yes, I have read all the "tutorials" on the forum on this topic.
