(I am sorry for digging up this somewhat oldish ?cow?, but I was absent from the Forum for 3 weeks and I am now trying to catch up with everything I have missed. This thread gives an interesting profile on members? riding habits, especially riding for leisure versus riding to earn the daily bread.)

I work in downtown Pretoria and live 8km from here in the Moot area. I use public transport every weekday ? yes, the Tshwane Metro?s road-dinosaurs :!: I know it does not say much for individuality, but for me it is indeed the cheapest, safest and less stressful way to get along. The Tiger thus have to wait until weekends for attention :roll:

Wow, you are the second person i know that uses public transport, my aunt is the other one, catches a bus from Florida into JHB to the library..

When I lived in Cape Town I used to take the bus to work for a while. Bloody awful especially since no-one heeded the "No Smoking" signs and I tell you when that south easter catches the bus broadside you really feel like it's going to blow it over. Add to that the fact that they stopped running at 18:00 it really left me with no option other than to get my own transport. Took the train from time to time but that was a major schlep too as the station was quite a way from my flat. Still hate public transport with a passion even though London's public transport is not too bad if you don't mind feeling like a cow on an overloaded cattle truck.

Commuting by bike is like being on holiday every day. The best part of my day is cruising to work oblivious to the frustrations of traffic jams. And back from work is even better...

Cold is not really a factor.

Cold is not really a factor.

Just get a rain suit, and do it. You won't look back once you've done it. I was also scared of rain, until I realised afterwards that I did not melt or die. Yes, do pay the white lines respect, and lower the speed and lengthen the following distance.

I use scoot almost every day. It sets you in the right mood. I just love riding my bike. I only use my cage if i have to pick up or deliver any item that does not fit on the scoot.

This winter has seen me on my scoot 95% of the time! Cold is an issue, lets not kidd ourselves.......but its worth it!

I do and have been for 2 years and 4 months. It's just getting a bit tiring on my 4-stroke 150, which is why I'm looking at buying something more powerful.
