Yoyo, some guys have serious issues here. Why ride in a group then?

Was thinking the same thing.

Reading through this thread reminded me of why I rather ride solo. I ride for enjoyment and relaxation. I don't need to be stressed out. Should I ride in a group I believe and try to follow the following guidelines;-
No one gets left behind
You ride at the speed of the slowest rider
You are responsible for the rider behind you - wait at every turn off so that they don't miss it
Each riders problems are the groups problems - you help each other
Be helpful not critical, we all have the same passion but each of us is different
Refreshments are important :mwink:

I'm a soloist because I hate feeling pushed to follow a certain pace or regimen. ::)
So do not fear if I quietly disappear on a ride... I'm most probably following a new direction set by my front wheel. :ricky:

Riding in a group is always great.

I have no problems, only one thing.

And this happened on about 4 trips we did with buds.

On the last day, people get this huge urge to get home, and get home NOW.
We woke up at 06h00 just to find some okes left 04h00 already to get home  ???

Or the last day is a race. No stopping and chatting, just stop for fuel and go. No lunch nothing. Why the hell will I do a 3000km roundtrip and JAAG to be home by 14h00 the last day?

That last day is still part of my trip and enjoy it. Not some other okes.

+1000
The whole trip everybody goes laxa-dazy, but suddenly on the last day they just have to be home early, and goois it home at 160km/h.
Have a trip coming up, and am pretty sure the same thing is going to happen again >:(

What pisses me is just lack of respect.....My requirements for a riding buddy are simple, someone who rides as well as me(or as close to), can appreciate the scenery, must be fairly chilled out, and quite hard to piss off. Since my wife's prang (she was my only riding buddy, together we did some fantastic trips) the only guy I really enjoy riding with and doing extended trips is my mate Rob, who some of you have met. 1000km days are no issue, whatever the circumstances are he does not really get stressed, yes he is not perfect, but neither am I, but we deal with each other's 'otherwise ways'. I dislike riding in big groups, and with utter noobs (unless it's part of the various training programs myself and my Kings Mountain training partner Stephen King offer)
Choosing riding buddies is important, choose wrong and your long planned trip can get completely stuffed up.
Basically don't ride with people who might endangour your life, get you arrested, or won't pull their weight. 8)
If you can keep your head in the midst of all this confusion, you don't understand the situation!

People who use the bike trip as an excuse to go drink somewhere else.  :pot:

And then the next morning brag about how pissed they were the previous evening.

By all means, have a dop on the days ride, but no need to get sloshed in the process.

Riding a KTM like Roost is far more impressive to watch and listen to!

Warm beer.

You must organize your backup better. We had a fridge on the backup. Very cold beers when we stopped.  :thumleft:

+1

I asked one of the people on my last trip, why the haste to get to the sleepover point. The reply was that they want to sit back and relax a bit.

My reply was that I was already sitting back and relaxing while riding. With the added bonus of ever changing scenery. If I wanted to sit and watch wood burning while we talk k@k, I could have saved money and stayed home.

I think if you explain this to the group before you go, the travelling time frame will relax a lot more.
Passengers don't always see it that way, until you tell them.

The trip is why we go, not the camping at the other end.  :ricky:

What get's me started up are the following points:

Someone that can't talk enough about himself while everybody else knows he's the biggest "bullsh..ter" in town. Now put that in your Pipe and smoke it. :imaposer:

When in a group, the Groupleader has not planned the route properly and then 8 fully loaded bikes have to turn around on a narrow 4x4 track.

Inconsideration is also a big NO for me, especially okes that passes me full throttle and I'm sitting with a face full of stones.

Riders that wants so show off their skills and putting everybody elses safety on the line.

Getting lost during an adventure is a relative term. It all depends if you're enjoying it.

if you struggle to find a suitable riding buddy then the problem likely lies with you ;D
