After a few get-togethers... many map-ogled passes & ravines... and too many refreshments... Andy660 & Leftless inspired a route to & from the 2011 EC Bash for a humble group of WC Dawgs.
EC Bash 2011 - WC Dawg Ride II was ready to roll. >
[After an incident the day before leaving - which has enjoyed endless embarrassment ( :xxbah: for me), and amusement ( :imaposer: for everyone else) - my ride status changed to backup co-pilot for this trip]
Day-1, part 1:
We'd agreed to leave the Winelands N1 Onestop at 8am and suffer through some initial black stuff to Touws River.
From here the pack hit some good stuff along a quick, hard-packed farm road running just south of the N1 towards Laingsburg.
At the entrance to Seweweekspoort pass...
One of the most spectacular channels through a very tight gorge.
Leftless & I attempted to go checkout the dam wall, but alas the road has been closed.
The first of many, many water crossings...
Arrived at Calitzdorp and paid the rapidly-becoming-famous local biker bar a quick visit.
From here the trail ventured north east - passing well north of Outshoorn - and ending in De Rust.
A very lekker place to visit... with an awesome, friendly owner-couple. Great value at R150 per night, and just R50 each for a custom authentic pizza. :deal:
They even had a mean-green-machine bike on display...
