We decided that all of us need a bike trip, even if it is a short one, so Max worked out a route for us in and around the Vredefort Dome.
We met each other at the Barrage the Saturday morning, rode gravel from there to Parys, and had a good breakfast at O’s.
The rest of the day was spent exploring in and around the Vredefort Dome, and it was quite an eye-opener to see the amazing routes one could ride there, all within an hour’s ride from Jo’burg.
We stayed over at the Thwane Bush Camp which was excellent! Great lodgings, good service, not too expensive. The best was that it could have been right in the middle of the Bushveld, because the atmosphere and surroundings were spectacular.

We left the Bush Camp early the following morning, had breakfast in Parys, and were back at home before the missus could get “krapperig”…
