Crime is under control in SA !!

Spoke with Excalibur after the rugby Saturday night.

He's part of the group that's doing the 1Nite stand to Kestell this weekend.
While they were in a pub in Kestell watching the rugby some cnut decided to steal the kit of their bikes.

Apparently lotta damage, as some okes lost all the stuff that was tied onto the bikes and not locked in panniers  :?

This is really fucked up  :twisted:

When I was buying camping supplies(Bottle Store  :twisted: ) in Malmesbury on our Cederberg trip I saw a few locals plucking at my cargo net, through the shop window - Well did they get here swear words they probably never thought of from a whitey  :D

yesterdy when i went to the mall and i had put all my kit in da topbox(new 42l) i realised, if they take the topbox it can easily amount to 6k +
here and there theres bucks displayed everywhere...

i dont even know what to say except mothersuckers!!

i hope this crime ridden place gets a rude awakening...

sorry to hear of such loss... u cant do anything fun lately, because its too dangerous or u are at risk of this kinda sh1t!!

Morning. A bit of feedback on the damage. Mine is about a grand(crocks, nice bag, matress pump, drinking cup, 4 packets of Camel, cargo net)Luckily the remainder of my stuff was locked inside the panniers. The okes with soft luggage hade huge damage. Oxford bags were cut off complete. 2 Bikes had the clean frames left. It happened 60 meters from us. Luckily the place had a camera and everything is on tape. Reported it to the SAPS in Kestell for insurance purposes. The losses were big but money cant replace the sentimental value of the kitt. Hardy with a Dakkie with 117 000 kays on, nearly cried like a kid. He lost a lot of stuff with sentimental value. Hope it never happens again.

That really sucks. It is such a pity that this should happen when you are meant to be all excited about the ride you are on. There is however one little positive that you can take out of the situation.......you do not have to wear those horrible Crocs anymore :twisted:

The three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40 and a hammer.  If it moves and it shouldn't, use the duct tape.  If it doesn't move and it should, use the WD-40.  Otherwise use the hammer.

Very sorry for the loss. Hope insurance pays out etc. i know what you mean about sentiemntal. Also the massive effort in finally finding just the right bit of kit after looking for it for month and then it get nicked off the bike.

We put our loose items that couldn't fit in our boxes in pacsafes

For our big trip we will though be taking soft luggage and will just have to hope and pray that our stuff isn't skived. We will be taking one of these pacsafes to put our ATGATT in and lock it to the bike while we walk around. They can steal our tents, sleeping bags etc but if they take out helmets then we are stuffed. The again I haven't heard of major stuff being stolen off bikes in the rest of Africa, couple of gloved maybe...maybe it's just a SA thing.
