Odd question maybe, but bear with me.

Here is my train of thought:

So I have been thinking lately of joining the skinnier dark side, trading my 990 ADV for a 950 SE.

But here's what I thought. Why is the 990 so much heavier at 227 kg as opposed to the 950 SE at 189 kg.

Obviously there is the fuel, and different suspension and what not, some faring differences etc, obviously different motors. SE's got the 950 twin card and the 990's got the fuel injection. I'm guessing if it's made the fuel tank smaller by almost 3 liters, then it must weigh something.

Then obviously the ABS unit, that's got to weigh some too. But where is all the rest of the weight shed??

Anyone here know what is up?

Why not convert my 990 into a makeshift SE? What would have to be done?
