I use mostly Dunlop D606, aggressive pattern, good price, reasonable life, very good grip (off-road)
Conti TKC also good but more expensive.

Thanks, how would you rate the D606 compared to the TKC on tar?

I use Heidenau K60's but am not convinced they are the right choice for a 610.

They are OKish in most dry dirt, but are useless in mud and on grass (if you climb up a steep single track and hit a patch of grass you almost certainly lose grip, happened to me twice now - the bike just stops as if you lost your chain or something).

In my opinion the Heidis are far too hard.  Everyone worries about about tyre life so the manufacturers respond by bringing out hard compounds that last a long time.  But I think they go over board because most people rate a tyre only by its life and simply ignore its grip as long as it lasts.

I bought the Heidi's mostly because I wanted something that would grip better on wet tar than the std Karoos.  I'm not convinced they actually do grip any better being super hard.

My rear tyre is on its way out so I'm looking around at options.  I'm in half a mind to go back to proper nobbly like a 606 or TKC or something because they may not grip in the wet on tar, but neither does the Heidi, but they certainly grip much better than the Heidi in the dirt and mud.

I can't answer that one - haven't used the TKC long enough, but initial impressions are that the grip on tar is good, maybe better than D606. I have heard from guys that the life of the TKC is excellent, one guy reporting more than 10 000km's

I had a Mitas E-09 on my DRZ440. Will use it again, just a bit pricey.
My husky has Karoo's on, still new. Will look at the Michelin T63 when I replace. They also come at a good price.

I had TKC's on my Xchallenge, pricey but with good grip, but they do not give good km's for the price. Had Heidi's on the AT, not too impressed, although the grip was OK under the weight of the AT.  I see there's a guy in PE advertising 140/18 TKC's for R800. Maybe at that price I should give it a try again!?

OK, I got a 130 T63 for a good price and took it. Hopefully it won't disappoint! You don't get a 140 in the T63, but I guess the 130 will be fine  :-\ To me it looks very similar to the TKC.

You are crazy; the Maxxis is the best of the bunch on the 610, the TKC, Karoo and Desert are shyte on the 610. What don't you like about the Maxxis?

The Maxxis is fine on dirt, but on tar I find on this one, as well as previously on a XR250 I had, that it doesn't warn you on tar when its going to let go - it just suddenly slips rather seriously! Maybe it's just me, but that's my experience with it. On wet tar it's even worse than other knobbly's, apparently due to the compound they use.

I have never experienced the Maxxis suddenly letting go on tar, even in the wet. I use them on my XT too.

I cannot comment on the Husky specific, but I found the D606 and M6006 very similar on dirt, but the D606 better on tar. Just remember, it is still a nobbly and should be handled with care on wet tar

Best for the 610 is the Mitas C-02 or E-09.
I run the C-02 on my XR650 and it grips like nothing else. The bonus of the E-09 is its strength as it is a 4 ply tyre and you can basically ride it with NO air in it and you pretty much guaranteed no flats!

I don't think that it is so much the tyre; the Karoo before that didn't last much longer. I am sure aggressive both on the tar and dirt.

I'm not referring to the tyre not lasting, they don't last on the Capo either - you can finish off a Karoo by riding around the block a few times. I was referring to the tyre being rubbish offroad.

Perhaps I should clarify, a lot of the off road riding we do down here is sand. The TKC and the Karoo and even the Desert rear are just not aggressive enough and give poor traction in the sand. I find the Maxxis out performs all three in the sand.

I have a Maxxis like that on my 950. It's not gonna last long, but I've found this the tire the one with the most "push" in sand. Not bad on gravel either. But rocks and tar will chew it up in no time.

Try the Mitas E-09 on the back.
