looking to quiten my DRZ400 exhaust

Hi everyone,

I am trying to get my hands on a stock drz exhaust for my 400E. I currently have an airage can on the back which sppoks children and upsets mothers.  

I find it a bit too load for me, so would like to quiten it down.

I have a header pipe you can have. It is 'stock' but it has been gutted and there is a 28mm perforated pipe running through the end can. It is much quieter than my leo vince. We can make a plan

Is there no baffle insert for the airage pipe? My leovince came with these baffles that make it a stealth bike, so I threw them away  

This guy is selling a full system for R600. Not a bad offer. If you did that I may buy the header pipe of you. I had mine powercoted and it looks shit.

Another option, and probably your best best if a stock pipe is too loud. Go to Jeff Talbott in Pinelands and ask him if he can help you. The man is a wizzard, he inserted the perforated pipe down the middle of my end can for me. Friendly and reasonably priced. 021 5318429

The standard pipe is more quiet than an aftermarket pipe, but only just.

I would not even go through the effort if I was you.............. it might be a lot of effort with only a very small reduction in loudness.

Finding an insert or new tail piece for the airage would be first prize (I dont currently have one). I however cant find any contact information for airage on the internet, still checking the yellow pages, to see if such a thing is available (I have the plain looking oval pipe, not the fancy octaganel ?? one). 

I was trying to find a standard pipe as I thought it would be less effort to find and fit than an insert for the airage, but If the standard pipe is still loud then it would be no point in taking the time and effort to change it.

Yeah, sorry, only saw you were in Gauteng after I posted that.

I am sure someone up there can do the same.

But an Airage insert would (based on the inserts I've heard for other systems) be your quietest option.

what is the inner diameter of your exhaust ?
