Spectating at the VW Rally
« on: July 17, 2011, 07:03:09 pm »
VW Rally time again and as we are not allowed to ride Motorcycles in the Longmore Forest spectating on the bike is a great way to be in the Forest
I bumped into Gotcharater and Kevin in the forest on their XR's

Jan Habig was going like a man possessed on the limiter all the time

The transport for the day

So many roads so little time

Time to ride again can’t stand around watching rally cars all day
We got to a turning and were waiting for Kevin and heard and saw nothing for quite some time I said to the Gotcharater we best go back and look as I suspected he may have got stuck at a big slippery stump we had to cross

On arrival what do we find

Kevin crossed the stump and it caught his footpeg shooting him down the hill and breaking the stump in the process, where he got stuck under the bike with petrol dripping on him but had freed himself by the time we got there
Needless to say we first had to take pictures before we could help

Proof that you don’t need a Husqvarna (chainsaw) to cut trees an XR will snap it like a twig

Back at regroup the Toyota Truck had got stuck and needless to say every wiseguy and his dog was there to give advice

Nice to see some real grass roots budget rallying as well

Some of the Characters that make it happen

Back to the next stage

My baby in its natural habitat

From there we blasted around the fire breaks a little longer and eventually stopped at the 3 legged Pig for a cold one
What a great day while riding around the forest I had a huge grin on my face, the more I ride this bike the more I see why they are so legendary

I designed what I thought was an awesome Tail light and number plate holder with indicators for my XR, needless to say the pig chewed it up and spat it out before half time

excellent pics wolweseun  :thumleft:

i was there on my mountain bike with a few guys.  we forgot all about the rally and started riding on the course early in the morning.

a couple of hours of riding later it dawned on us that we couldn't ride back the way we had come, but it was cool to watch the traffic.

had to do a bit of bushwhacking along the river to get back

another perfect day!
