Invitation to Fred’s account of his 25000km Africa trip.

Ever wondered what makes a person  leave the bounds of work and family to take huge risks and make a trip alone on a motorbike – the hard way round?
Skeg is an Oryx pilot. He flies in the SAAF.
So it is not freedom he could be looking for. He has that in abundance aloft above us mortals as he controls a 185 Million Rand machine on missions of mercy.
If you’d like to here more about this adventure, Join Fred and friends at Donford Motorrad, Jamestown Stellenbosch for an evening of pictures and anecdotes.

Frederick  “Skeg” von Heyer, left Cape Town on a summers day 12th  February 2011.
He returned at the end of June, a few kilograms lighter, many dollars poorer, but infinitely richer in diverse experiences.
A trip he would not trade for anything.
How did he cope with the loneliness?
How did he overcome that point of no recovery where you just want to give up when the final straw seems likely to end your dream?
How do you cope when you have no communication with the outside world and a language barrier between the locals?
Where do you dig deep when you already dug deeper than you ever dug before?
What lessons can followers in his footsteps learn from his experience.
Come and listen, ask questions and share his experiences.
