Learner's License in Pta - Where and How?
« on: July 21, 2011, 02:24:36 pm »
My wife is trying to get an appointment for her bike learners.
She even drove to Rayton today to try there, but they do not make any appointments "untill further notice".

Any help?

A friend of mine and I did ours at Centurion... we booked in March, wrote in June! but even when we wrote, the lines were pretty short...

Dont know if the strikes have affected it lately though...

Maybe Bronkhorstspruit, but they only make appointmants between 8 and 10 and do not do bike drivers' license testing.
Out of the gloom a voice said unto me, "Smile and be happy, things could be worse." So I smiled and was happy and behold things did get worse.

I asked the same question just last week but nobody even answered me. I know you could get people that helped with the bookings, in fact I used someone like that last time I wrote a learners. It seems that now after the whole phone in booking fiasco it is very difficult to make a booking unless you waste a couple of hours and physically go to to some licensing department and book in person.

As a contractor this absolutely pains me as the hours I spend standing in a queue for something so basic can work out to significant loss of income. Having said that I will also be attempting to book tomorrow or next week. I really cannot understand why it is such a mission to do this. Supposedly the volume of people applying is just so huge. Thing is .. when I wrote last time there wasn't even a full classroom of people writing ...

All I can say is good luck, I hope it goes quick and painless!!

When I went to book mine, there were maybe 10 people in the cue...

I made use of http://www.licencebookings.co.za/ . Asked them for a booking at Centurion, and got it within 3 days.

Try Midrand, they were really helpful when Centurion wouldn't even listen to our story.

Centurion. Just pitch up and book. But the actual test date will be a few months away.  :P

Do this in preparation for the learners. :thumleft:

All I can say is WTF!

Found a guy that charges R1500.
For this money, you can write next week(!) and he will supply all the current exams for you to prep.

I had a month to go on my learners (2nd one) and a guy charged me R800 for the license booking......he even did the booking for me without me going there...and one lesson before the time...only issue was that it was in Langlaagte but I got the booking within a week.

PM me if you want his details....I'm pretty sure he can assist with learners license as well.
