The 'how we remember Watty' photo thread...
« on: July 29, 2011, 11:29:16 am »
I am still very saddened by the terrible news about Watty's passing this morning (http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=74708.0)

Since he's been such a loved and well known WD member I thought it would be cool if we could post photos from where we've bumped into him and how he's remembered ?

I'll try and find more photos, but I'll start with this one (originally posted by Mountainboy)

Watty explaining sumfink... sheesh! I can't believe I am doing this. He represented Adventure Biking for me, here in PE, with that little Djebel and the topbox that he secured with an extra strap, just in case...

 :(

This was my first ride with hime and some of the boys, to Patensie for brekvis..

Kampies, Snakey, C.U.F, Paddler, Cap'n Slow, Slowpoke, Crab, Watty and me... Met at KFC on a cold and blustery morning, Elandsrivier, the dam.. (customary smoke stop...)

Riding back from the Bruintjieskraal Bash... Zuurberg... too many memories. Eish.. Thanks for some really good times.

Watty explaining something is how I will always remember him as well.

He was someone for getting something done right.

And no effort ever to big for him to help someone out.

1. This is the "just for extra peace of mind" strap around the top-box...
2. A really seriaas strap...!
3. Sitting at the Aardbol near Alexandria... that is the GPSII which "works jus faain fanks.. its orl I need..!" on the Djebel, and the homemade bracket.
4. Here, Watty put his gammy foot down, and there was a big hole under it.. we caught him before he bliksemmed into the bushes.
5. A gammy foot never stopped him from climbing a mountain to get a better photograph..

At the EC Bash last year.

1 and 2 - Watty coming back from finally having had a chance to also go ride the outride route.

3 - His tent was two away from mine.

For a second you were flying
Like you always wanted to
Now you’ll fly forever
In skies of azure blue
We’ll see your smile in every ray
Of sunshine after rain
And hear the echo of your laughter
Over all the pain
The world’s a little quieter now
The colours have lost their hue
The birds are singing softly
And our hearts are missing you
Each time we see a little cloud
Or a rainbow soaring high
We’ll think of you and gently
Wipe a tear from our eye

I can't help but feel extremely humbled by the impact that Watty had on so many people.

Reading most of the comments on the thread " In Loving Memory - Watty UPDATED", I am deeply moved by just how "Special" Watty was & that he'll ALWAYS be remembered in the best possible way...... as the most genuine & sincere person that everyone grew to love.

Very sad indeed...

Not much to say, Watty's actions spoke for itself. In a big way!!!  :thumleft:

IMO no one could organize a bash better than this man...

Just a few quick pics from the 09 EC Bash

1. Sharing pics
2. The original of "Jy gaan val, Pappie"  :D
3. Bringing order to the chaos at prize giving...

Ons gaan jou mis, Watty!!!

This Sunday, 29 July, marks the first anniversary of Watties passing away. I thought it well to bring this thread up today, that as we ride this weekend, we may remember how much he enjoyed it.

In fitting tribute to Watty in the past year, we had a most memorable EC Bash.

May your memory inspire, and remind us, what a true Wild Dog should be Old Friend.
