Author Topic: Bridgestone Battle Wing - Who Has Them? (Read 580 times)

My new GS (looks like it was built in Nov 2006, I found a 11 Nov 2006 QC date stamp on the petrol tank) came fitted with these new Bridgestone Battle Wing tyres.................the dealer tells me thay are 70% road orientated and 30% off-road orientated.

Have any of you guys run with them? What sort of milage did you get out of them?

I have just finished my first 1000km on mine and must say that on the tar they are very good and seem to grip exceptionally well.............

I have little off-road experiance and so am not able to test them to their full potential at this point in time. Hoping to change this in the future....

You mean Trail wings?

Know about Battle axe for supper bikes...

If you ride like a sissy you will get more than 15 000km. Ride like a hooligan and you will get 10 000km

Yep, Battle Wing, see last month 2Wheel mag in the new items section...................apparnelty these were launched in Feb this year

such a stupid name for a tire..

It's bit negative.. you think it will "battle" in the mud or in the wet

Those Battle Wings are rated 80/20 on/off road.

IMHO, it will be no better than a genuine 100% road tyre on dirt.

But on the black stuff it will perform extremely well, I assume.

I have Bridgestone Trail Wings on my Dakar. On the Dakar site they are referred to as Turd Wings with a stinking reputation to match. I am a noob so know no better as the bike came with them. Could be that Bridgestone have tried to move on from there.

I've done 5000km's on Trail Wings on my VStrom and, on tar, they're fantastic. I've done the BMW Off-Road course and done two off-road rides and on all occassions, have found the tyres to be superb.

Bridgestone continue to be a leading bike tyre manufacturer who have been the exclusive supplier for my RT and other BMW's for the past 200,000 miles. They've revamped the entire model range by improving on what are superb tyres. The BT020's I've always run on the RT are now replaced by 021's.

If Bridgestone have changed the tyre, its for the right reason and, if its an improvement on the TrailWings, they'll be really good.

The 80/20 split is probably the true reflection of the actual tar/dirt riding I will do.............
