Hi there i've not posted much on this site but i pop in now and again.
I'm living in the UK now having left sunny SA in 1990.
While i do love this site for it's great photo's and ride reports what i'm really looking for is a Enduro / full off road type forum as most of this site tends to be for more street/dirt road type riding.
Can anyone help me with an adress - if there are any?

thanks for that. i've been having a look arround it. yes no ride report as such :?
when i lived in sa i used to dirt the arround on the old mine dumps. :roll:

what is the state of off roading over there now? one post said the police where confiscating bikes :shock:
in the uk we do have 'rights of way' on certain routes (shrinking all the time :x )
do you people generally ride when and where they can?

In JHB theres still places on mines dumps and in Roodepoort / Maraisburg to ride, but like usual some morons bugger it up for the majority. The biggest problem in SA now is quad bikes and the idiots riding them, if there's shit it will be because quad riders misbehave or just disrespect other people, property and places they ride. Again there's a small amount of them that's responsible riders

It's still really easy all over, except in JHB the places to ride get less. In the rest of the country except for the bigger metros it's still go as you pleased kind of thing.....well, for rural areas anyway.

Touch wood, we haven't had any kind of legislation like you guy's in the UK and Europe, but leave it to a few morons and it will happen eventually

hey guys

i do a fair bit of mine dump riding here southern joburg.
i was wondering about laws, rules, etc for mine dump riding.
i have a great dump, less than 300m from my back door.
there are no fences, gates are restriction notices any where to be found.
the only life is the odd squater shack, which only appear to be occupied on weekends, let's just say, that it's a drinkers paradise.
i've seen some great mine dumps along the concrete highway, alongside Soweto, behind Nasrec, but these seem to be managed, thus tresspassing. might get me shot or worse
let's discuss mine dump riding, rules, etc

Cono, I doubt there's anything to discuss about mine dumps, it's not your property and very clearly the property of a mine. If you ask they would most probably say no to any riding and you are trespassing.
