I saw a whole load of KTM bikes in a bike shop. THis MTB was R17000 duty free in Andorra . A lot of KTM road bikes too

The other thing i took a pic of is every bike has a lock, usually two. Theft is really bad. Do something silly like locking only your front wheel to a pole and that is all that remains when you return. Go through the frame and wheels. A lot of front loose front wheels chained to poles. Surprised the owner doesnt at least recover the chain and lock

Hi Kev, exact dates were 20-22 May. Maybe you can comment on my observations

It is shopping heaven. Stuff was quite a lot much cheaper. Helmets imported in SA have 25% import duty + shipping + 14% VAT. Big difference.

Open face helmets appear to be so popular amongs locals even on superbikes.

Quite cool to see so many road legal quads. although they have both disadvantages of cars and bikes. cant filter, cold, parking etc. Much the same as a trike.

Apparently the trail riding is very good, the road guys were blasting through the passes.

Would love to go back for a spot of snowboarding.
Maybe the dogs can do a Tiffendel winter ride and go snowboarding

i think that is an Arctic Cat with a KTM motor. the two companies belong to one another and i remember reading somewhere that one of their quads was to receive a KTM engine.

I did not find Andorra that cheap. You can get better deals from the Internet. Some things (MX boots) were more expensive there than my local KTM dealer!

There are some FANTASTIC roads in that area. Unfortunately, there was also a lot of snow when I passed through... and VERY cold. There is a whole thread on ADVrider about the 3rd European ADV meeting in Sort, Spain.

There are PLENTY quads... and a good deal of them hit those trail in the mountains. It really is off-road heaven for Europeans... loads of legal trails. Something that is scarce now-a-days over here.

I wish my camera did not pack up so I could show you guys what it is like there. Oh well...

The VLS quads from Holland also uses the KTM motors.

Currently they use the 450 and the 525.

sorry, i got my brands mixed up. it is Polaris that make a KTM engined quad.

on the other hand, this drawing looks more like the 1st pic of this thread, and apparently it will have a 450cc engine. so perhaps the pic you posted is the 1st of the new KTM quad to surface.

they've been meaning to tap into the ever growing quad market for 2 years now, but somehow managed to lag behind in their development of the KTM quad.

if that is indeed a pic of the new sonn to be launced KTM quad, i cannot say i like it very much, it looks heavy and slow (unlike the xbow).

well, bmw is clearly making an attempt at gaining entry into the enduro racing market with their 450 prototype, so you can be sure that they are working on a quad version as we speak.

I see a picture of an orange quad with what appears to look like a KTM motor.

If KTM was producing quads, I am sure that there will be some press to that effect, I am not aware of any.

I expect this is someones private play thing.

I saw this a while ago at KTM WC. It was being tested for the Dakar. Don't think it went ultimately.

Memory is a bit fuzzy but a prototype story that had some official KTM backing, I think it had the KTM625 engine in it. The chassis is from Europe. Made by some guru who I did Google long time ago and he is in consultation with KTM with their quad project but it all escapes me now.

I don't ride quads but if I did it would have to be this one.
